The NZ Drug Foundation found a dangerous amount of meth in Rinda pineapple lolly wrapping. Here’s what we know…

A white lolly brought to a drug checking clinic in Auckland was found to contain a potentially lethal amount of methamphetamine. The lolly was in a yellow Rinda pineapple wrapping. It contained approximately 3g of meth, which is up to 300 regular doses.

Consuming this much meth is extremely dangerous and could result in death. If you or someone you know has eaten one and feels unwell, call 111 immediately.

It is currently unknown how widespread these contaminated lollies are – it is recommended that you don’t eat them at all. It is understood the lolly was in a sealed package that was donated to the Auckland City Mission and that some lollies may have been distributed to people in food parcels.

According to our mates at The Level, people who have consumed these lollies reported an unpleasant chemical or bitter taste. Three people have sought further medical treatment.
